A New Nantucket Classic

The Matriarch (and namesake) of our collection of Nantucket inns, the Roberts House was built in 1846 after the Great Fire destroyed a large section of Downtown Nantucket. In 2016, the Roberts House underwent a complete renovation. The rich history of this century-old Inn inspired us as we transformed the building into a whole new Nantucket classic.

Featuring custom pieces and designs from independent artists all across the country, the new Roberts House is an ocean-inspired haven. Botanical prints paper the walls, intricate water scenes grace the ceilings, and every bed is bedecked with bright fabric headboards. Its classic front porch and restored original wide plank wood floors link its modern, island aesthetic to its auspicious past.

Originally owned by the Roberts sisters—daughters of a whaling ship captain, the Roberts House was designed in a style typical of the whaling era during which it was constructed. Likely due to its central location in the heart of the downtown, the Roberts House was one of the first single family homes on Nantucket to be converted to an inn and has operated as such for over 100 years.
